Our Ensembles

The JDCHS Instrumental Music Department includes an unusually wide variety of ensembles and talent. Performing groups include the Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensembles, Marching Band, and Steel Drum Band.

Wind Symphony

The Wind Symphony is one of the premier ensembles at JDCHS. With approximately 40 members, this group hosts the annual Christmas Showcase concert, performs at region and state concert band festivals, the year end 'Dessert Pops' concert, and travels each year for the spring music tour.

Orchestra

The JD Orchestra has a long tradition of excellence. The orchestra hosts the annual Christmas Orchestra Showcase for the Skaggs Catholic Center, in addition to the region and state orchestra festivals, the year end 'Dessert Pops' concert, and the spring music tour.

Jazz Band

The Juan Diego Jazz Band provides high quality entertainment and solid grooves at numerous events around the community each year. The group has been recognized for excellence on several occasions both locally and nationally.

Percussion Ensembles

The percussion ensembles at JDCHS have a long-standing reputation of excellence. Both the Advanced and Intermediate Percussion Ensembles perform at the yearly Percussion Showcase Concert in November, at region and state festivals, and act as host for the Percussive Arts Society's Utah Day of Percussion Festival each Apri.

Marching Band

The "Pride of Juan Diego" Marching Band is the newest addition to the instrumental music program, celebrating its inaugural season in 2015. This group competes on the Utah Marching Band circuit, performs at many school and community events, and supports the Soaring Eagle football team at every home game.

Steel Drum Band

The JD Steel Band is one of the largest and most celebrated steel bands in the state of Utah. It hosts the annual Utah Steel Band Festival each year and has shared the stage with legends like Andy Narell, Tom Miller, Liam Teague and more.
